Biathlon . A diorama depicting a biathlon, inspired by the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. . After watching the men's biathlon on TV for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, I was inspired to make this little diorama. In case you didn't know, a biathlon consists of cross-country skiing and shooting. This diorama is essentially a SNOT base with studs sticking out in the right places to hold down minifigs, trees, and other such objects. Please review, and thanks for looking!
Side view. The technique for putting snow on the trees is fairly simple: all I did was cram white 1x2 and 1x1 tiles, along with white flowers, between the layers on the trees. I'm not sure if I like it or not, but I couldn't let those trees go perfectly green while in the snow...
Front view. You can see how the shooting lanes are lined up.
Top view, for a sense of minifigure placement.
A closer shot of the shooting lanes. Biathlons really use five holes as targets, but these pieces were too perfect for the job :) Also, notice the spent cartridges next to the shooter.
One of the skiers, as he exits the shooting stage.
Another skier, entering lane one, to give things a "shot" :D He is personally my favorite fig in the diorama, I thinks it's the light blue clothes: very Olympic-ish color...
An athlete takes his aim...
Picture of one of the athletes. All three of them have glasses, but it's kind of hard to see...
I attached the rifles to their backs with little rubber bands.
Comparison to a real biathlon.
