Ardvreck Castle . Ardvreck Castle, seat of the MacLeods of Assynt: a reconstruction in LEGO. . Clicking on a photo will zoom it to a browser-window-sized image Ardvreck Castle was home of the MacLeods, the clan made famous by the slicing and dicing of Connor MacLeod in The Highlander movies. As a kid I thoroughly enjoyed the capers of Connor, so when I happened by the ruins of 'his' castle I had to pay a visit! You young'uns may not know the movie as it is from 1986, but a remake is to be released this year! But this MOC has nothing to do with The Highlander, neither do the movies have anything to do with the castle... So without further ado I present to you Ardvreck Castle Please enter! But leave the beggar outside... The MacLeods are expecting important guests No, not the Castle-series king and queen... Over there, in the boat ... in the other boat... The retired Eggy Pop comes a visiting and brought his blushing daughter! Thanks for the wonderful creations over the last two years, Eggy, I will miss them. Take the drunken sky tour of Ardvreck Castle. Be the first to guess the number of frogs around Loch Assynt and win a prize!!! Allow me to guide you up through the castle. Let's start in the cellars, where a supply of Scotch is stocked to last a siege! Climbing up the spiral staircase we reach the great hall. Up another level on the spiral staircase we find the Lady's chamber. "Aagh! Dirty diaper! Burn it, burn it!" That staircase keeps on spiralling higher! Are you dizzy yet? It maybe the Eggwhelp's diaper... On the third floor we enter the Lord's chamber and the Lord's study in the tower. Under the rafters we find some bedding for the guards. It is a long way down from up here! Inside the walled-off promontory, behind the castle is a small yard. The larger of the two buildings is the smokehouse. The fisherman's equipment can be stored here and his wife prepares the deliciously smoked salmon for the Lord and Lady. The smallest building is also the fullest! It is the smithy, and the blacksmith's house. Here all shapes and sizes of claymores, swords, rapiers and other butching utensils are made, stored and sold. When I visited the site of Ardvreck Castle, I picked up this sheet with an artist's impression of the castle looked before it fell to ruins Not much remains of the castle, which gave me the chance to be liberal in creating my artist's impression. This is how the castle looks nowadays: Click here to find Ardvreck Castle on Google Maps Dalv strikes a pose in his kilt It took me a long time to build, and depleted all my bley bricks. It took me even longer to make this post, as life got in the way once again. But now it's here! I hope you enjoyed watching these photos! Have fun!!!
