Why?
VDS Medium Adaptable Artillery Truck . VDS now presents its next hard-hitter, the Medium Adaptable Artillery Truck. The MAAT is a 155mm mobile artillery cannon on a light, fuel-efficient truck chassis. The MAAT can reach a top speed of roughly 84 kilometers an hour on flat terrain or 32 to 55 kilometers on more rugged terrain. Once the vehicle gets to a designated area of set-up, the vehicle can unload and unleash its payload of 22 155mm GPS-guided smart munitions. Once these rounds are dispensed, ammunition support units can reload the truck to continue firing. In regards to the crew, the minimum number is four. One driver/communications technician, a commanding officer, one munitions technician, and a firing chief. An additional passenger may be carried and will generally support the role as a forward scout. MATTs always travel in convoys of four with three support vehicles that contain at least one command H-MMCT/ CV. Later additions to this vehicle will lead to a MLRS HIMARS capable of carry two cruise missiles or a payload of equal weight. . The MATT deployed with attending crew. Size comparison with technician and a "Vigilante" Guided Artillery Munition (GAM). Note: These pictures make me really sad, but I had to get 'um done. Expect better ones in a day or two. Note: Much inspiration came from the Caesar artillery system.
