"Knightspeed" : A big black Technic Hot Rod . Found a home for that massive engine... . Here we have one huge and insane technic hot rod. Resplendent in shiny black (almost) studless bodywork and a ridiculous engine. Just as it should be. It features a detailed V8 engine, all round suspension, working steering, a four speed gearbox and a functioning handbrake. Front view. Suspension by double wishbones and big grey cam covers. The engine has eight old square pistons and four camshafts, driven by the timing chain from the crankshaft. I've modelled the injection system in the vee and the ignition systems on each side of the block, where they can get (over)heated by the exhaust. The fan rotates also to cool the radiator. The air intake is there to block the driver's view... Studless bodywork is a new thing for me... so I modelled a square-ish pick-up body. Doors and tailgate open and there's some detail in the interior (another departure from my usual style...) Yes, it is quite long. Those are, I think, the biggest wheels Lego ever made. E-Z Servicing! The engine is simple to remove by just sliding out the four mounting axles on the right (two each side) and hoicking out... Rear view with the tailgate and doors open... A striking red and black interior. The handbrake lever is spring loaded and operates a ratchet mechanism to engage a serrated toggle with a gear on the rear axle. The toggle behind it is also spring loaded and releases the ratchet, working like the button on the end of a handbrake in a real car. Underside with rear of engine block, four speed 8880 style gearbox and rear live axle suspension. Above all that are the levers for the handbrake... ...which works! The gearbox is in neutral and the brake engaged in this shot. See! still got some studs. Studs never die!
