Rip's On The Lake . Rips on the Lake is a local restaurant that sits across the street from the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain - across from New Orleans. After hurricane Katrina, Rips was re-built, up on pilings, to protect it from high waters from the lake, incase another huge hurricane comes our way. There's a beautiful view of the lake (see sample below), if you choose to sit out on the deck to eat your meal. This model, like the actual restaurant, also includes an elevator and a bar located under the building. I would have to say that the hardest part of the model construction was the roof where the dormer meets the main roof. Lego does not make a 33 degree double concave slope, so getting these structures to come together was a major challenge. I must have put that part of the roof together about 10 times before I got close to what I wanted. It's still not perfect, but it's the closest I could get with what's available in Lego pieces. .
