Asteroid Outpost Alpha . My entry for "Luke's 8x8 'Massive Wangle' Vignette Contest" . In the year 2114 a team of U.S. scientists decided to attempt to build an outpost on one of the asteroids orbiting the moon. They would use this outpost as a base from which to study the moon, and also as a communications relay to ships that were farther out in the solar system. Here is the docking station for their space speeders. Each of the astronauts has his own utility gun. It contains a blaster setting as well as a grappling device and several tools. This gun is one of the astronauts' most important pieces of equipment. On this side of the outpost there is a docking platform for the small space cruiser. They use this for trips down to the moon's surface or transportation to other locations relatively near. The buildings on the station are (from left to right) the communications building, the living quarters, and the supply storage building. On top of the asteroid and beneath the outpost is the power generator for the base. A small service robot also resides on the outpost to aid the astronauts in mechanic work and carrying supplies. The space cruiser The communications building (with its satellite dishes being serviced)... ...and its interior The first floor of the living quarters And the second floor Everything is conveniently located on an 8x8 base! And here is a final, parting shot for your enjoyment. (If you noticed the small, dark triangle in the corner of many of the pictures, that is from this creation slightly outgrowing my background.)
