Colossus . A grim and deadly machine built to defend against a legion of enemies. .
A rear shot of this deadly mechanism.
A side view. Note the powerful joints used to support this heavy war machine.
In total, this mecha holds five operators.
One is housed below the main "head", in a cabin with a round windscreen. This allows him increased visibility, yet also more open to attack. However, all of the windscreens are reinforced and shielded to block projectiles and deflect lasers. This man operates the turret below him, used to pick of any troops or small vehicles missed by the main gunners.
Inside the cabin, you can see the main engineers. The man in front is in charge of the movement systems. The other two are the main gunners, who operate the mortars, anti-air missiles, forward lasers, and comet rockets.
These pods hold most of the vehicle's weapons. On the left are the mech's four mortar weapons. Since the pods cannot adjust their angle of elevation, the operator controls the amount of force used to fire the projectile, allowing him a good degree of accuracy. On the right are the four anti-air missiles. Any large gunships or shuttles are usually stopped by this heavy payload. (as a side note, the mech's design allows it good protection from airborne attacks, since pilots and joints are all armored from above. This is best seen in this picture.)
Smaller vehicles or individual troops can be individually targeted by these comet rockets.
Finally, the main laser systems can devastate the opposition. This camera angle shows a place in which you don NOT want to be standing.
Reinforcing the rear is this final gunner, who controls the machine guns below him.
The angle of his windshield, as well as his substantial elevation, make him a tough target to hit.
Thanks for taking a look! This is my first creation since I've been away at college. Having a month for a winter break is pretty fantastic, if you ask me.
