Story Tower: Fellowship of the Ring . This is my second story tower, based of the Lord of the Rings movie and book: The Fellowship of the Ring. It is a contest entry, and there was an 8x8 base limit, but I am happy nonetheless. Enjoy! . This is my entry for Ian Spacek's "LOTR Trilogy Contests; Contest 1 - The Fellowship of the Ring!" If you have time, fell free to check out Ian's contest. There's still time to enter; the judging doesn't start till May 7th! For this tower, I decided to chronologically (from top to bottom) display each member of the Fellowship in their natural biomes, so to speak. The scene that they are most noted for. For instance, think Boromir, and in about 1 second you should have a mental image of him gasping out his last breaths at Amon Hen. Well, that is essentially what I did for each member of the fellowship. Please enjoy! NOTE TO JUDGES: The overhang off my 8x8 base is completely legal. Minifigures, capes, and leaves are the only lego materials to hang of the invisible 8x8 walls. (I have talked to Ian and know that this is perfectally acceptable. It is stud overhang he is worried about. Please enjoy, and may the best MOC win! [Level 1: Bag End] Displayed Character: Frodo Based off the movie This level shows Frodo entering Bag End to fing Bilbo's ring lying on the floor and his dear relative missing. I love how my hobbit hole door turned out. This angle better shows the golden dishware on the shelf, the coat-rack with the cape on it, and Bilbo's barrels of junk. [Level 2: Shortcut to Mushrooms] Displayed Characters: Sam, Merry, Pippin Based off the movie This is a classic scene, which I thouroughly loved in the movies. This level has Frodo exempt, but still has the mushrooms and the awesome Black Rider (Nazgul)! [Level 3: Weathertop] Displayed Character: Aragorn (Strider) Based off my imagination This is very self explanitory, but very nifty. One black rider's hood has been burned by Aragorn's torch. [Level 4: Artistic Duel Quotes] Displayed Characters: Gimli and Gandalf Based off the movie I call this my Artistic Duel Quotes level because it displays the two most famous quotes of Moria on either side. On the left is Gandalf, hanging precariously off Khazad Dum, and the other is Gimli, refusing to be tossed across the leaning precipice. "Fly you fools!" "No one, tosses a dwarf!" [Level 5: Amon Hen] Displayed Character: Legolas Based off my own imagination. This is a great scene in the movie and the book, but my Legolas minifigure and Uruk Hai are from my own conjured images. The Uruk looks a little like a goblin because I didn't know what to think of the Uruk Hai when I read the books. This view better shows Legolas. In the movie, we see Legolas unveil his swords during this scene, so I kept that sole element for this level. [Level 6: The Departure of Boromir] Displayed Character: Boromir Based off the movie (But Boromir is off my own imagination) This is a great scene in the movie, where the lead Uruk Hai finally slaughters Boromir. My Uruk has Lando Calrissian's (Sail Barge) body with the white hand painted on. This angle better shows Boromir's scattered shield and horn. The shield is new compared to Balin's Tomb, after recieving so many comments on its unusual size. This is the ever-so unwanted picture of the back, to show the lack of stud overhang. Judges, we focus on the front... '...Kapeesh?' - Paul Vermeesch And my sweet artistic photo! Yay! I really like this one. It is also in high-resolution and works really nice as a desktop background (It is mine!). What a great contest, Ian! Can't wait to see more entries! Go Lord of the Rings! Please rate and comment!
