Set #8089 "Hoth Wampa Cave" review . omaigodimstillalive! Yes, I live. I've got a few things to post, but in the mean time I have a review of the awesome set "Hoth Wampa Cave". Pop some popcorn, turn down the lights, sit back and relax and enjoy the show! . Building
Here are all the bags together. 3 bags in total. A good variety of parts.
Here are the contents of Bag One. Nothing too special.
Here is bag one completely built, it's the cockpit of the Snowspeeder.
Contents of bag 2.
Bag two completed. The snowspeeder is now complete, and is actually pretty sturdy. I really like it.
Contents of bag 3.
Bag 3 completed. The cave is pretty neat, and there are a couple cool play features.
Play features
Wait? How did this get here? Oh well, you get a nice look at my photography skills. A needed break anyway.
The lightsaber launcher. You press the thing down and it flys out. It's pretty cool.
The cockpit opens up.
Tow cable goes out pretty far.
Luke's hanging 10 dudes!
The flap opens up.
Minifigs
Again? Oh well, another nice break.
Zev Senesca front. I'm a big fan of jumpsuits, and this is no exception.
Kudos to TLG for the back printing. It really makes it come alive.
Luke Skywalker front. I'm not a huge fan of the hat, doesn't seem to rest right on their heads.
Once again, awesome job for back printing!
The front of the Wampa. He seems to be a bit cartoonish, but I really love the design. The chicken made me laugh.
Here's the back of the Wampa. I love the texturing.
There is an awesome new arm piece for the Wampa. It allows it to hold a minifig, maybe make you're own Frankenstein monster?
Score
Well, we needed a break anyway *Whistles*.
Playability: 7/10; There are a few neat features, but can be a bit lacking.
Parts: 6/10; There are really only standard pieces, plates and slopes. The Wampa is new though.
Price: 4/10; $41 seems a bit over priced for the pieces.
Minifigs: 8/10; There are some nice exclusive figs here. The Wampa and Luke. The Sev has been seen before as a generic pilot. That's what detracts here.
Overall appeal: 9/10; Overall a neat little set that has some neat pieces and a lasting appeal.
This is one of those few sets I feel like keeping together.
