"Mola" Recon Probe . "A common ship seen floating through the depths of space, these relatively tiny craft are often used by mineral harvesting corporations (Titus Corp., for example) to scout for new planets on which to establish mining facilities. Quite agile, though fragile, the so-called "Molas" require experienced pilots to keep them from colliding with asteroids and small meteors. Recently, however, these ships have been replaced with cheaper, unmanned drones. This switch has not gone over well with the Mola pilots, who are now contractually forced to sit in a cramped cubicle monitoring and remotely controlling these drones. In fact, many of the new drones have suddenly and mysteriously changed direction, colliding with asteroids. This is supposedly because of "technical malfunctions". Full investigations have been launched." . Well, this has a been a 2 month long project, with as many iterations of the first basic design as frustrating failures. I finally finished it, and all I can say is thank god. I need my good pieces for other projects :P
This was also the hardest series of pictures I've had to take, since this thing has no areas on the bottom that I can make a stand to connect to. Instead, I suspended it by some string through the top of my photobox, then waited half an hour for the dang thing to stop spinning...
This was inspired by a mix of anything by Dasnewten and these probe designs.
Back: (My favorite angle for this MOC)
Enjoy! I'll be posting more stuff as the week goes on :)
