Halo 3 Battle Rifle V.2 . My best creation to date, and the first one to be uploaded from my shiny new laptop! I think the first version was just fine as far as the visual part, but now I've really gotten down inside this thing to make the technical part as accurate as I possibly can. And maybe even improved on the visual a little. If you've ever played Halo 3 for more than five seconds, then you're probably going to enjoy this. :) . What's new: A new grip that's more accurately shaped and can support the full weight of the rifle without bending! Bigger, more realistic-looking scope Stronger, squarish-looking barrel Detailed ammo counter Working safety that really clicks into the "safe" and "fire" positions! *VICTORY SCREECH* PLUS all the good stuff you remember from the first version, inluding the bolt, trigger, and magazine. Simply put, it's loaded with all kinds of great stuff now! Except for bullets, of course..... *checks magazine* Sadly, it's still lacking the muzzle break. My idea for that part of the rifle requires some very rare hinge plates that aren't made by LEGO any more, and I only have three of them in red. If I can ever find them in black, I'll be sure to add the muzzle break! But perhaps I can use the red ones to show you my idea. Check in soon to see if I've added anything to my building tips folder! I think my photography has improved JUST a little bit. But isn't a brick-built barrel kind of ugly? YES, absolutely! But in this case, I think it's a good kind of ugly. It's much, much stronger than the old barrel, and will still support a muzzle break if I add it. The old cylinder-shaped barrel, on the other hand, was as fragile as a twig. It's not as complicated or as fragile as it looks. Seriously, it isn't. I hope doing this to create the shape isn't considered "cheating". The new grip is as solid as a rock, and it's a lot more comfortable with the raised tiles in the middle. Checkin' out the ammo counter. Sorry, it doesn't have numbers. Let's just say somebody forgot to put batteries in it. But the little knob thingy really turns. And now the safety! If it's sticking out of the right side of the rifle, you can see the red danger indicator. The weapon is set to "fire". But if you push it in... It sticks out on the left now. Don't see any red? That's because it's on "safe" now, and the trigger won't move. Pretty cool, eh? I think this photo will explain everything about how the safety works. This is now one of my favorite things I've ever made with LEGO. EVER. The red indicator is actually the pin from one of these oldschool hinges. I don't know if this is considered "cheating" either, since the hinge is useless without the pin. (???) Another lame FPS view. Maybe I should make another magazine for some "reloading" action. Smile. Wait for flash. The rifle as it appears in the game. Notice the ammo counter and safety. Try to ignore the muzzle break. My Halo 3 Spartan holding a battle rifle. Oh, and the Hayabusa helmet won't instantly make you a n00b. Wear it with pride, people! THANK YOU for looking! I hope it's not too annoying when I post a new version of something. I feel like I do it a lot. Oh, and the first person to ask for instructions will be instantly struck by lightning. Have a nice day.
