Duke Burger . Duke Nukem's very own fast food chain, Duke Burger. . Come get some ! Those who saw my last MOC may have noticed the random Duke Nukem minifig I added at the end, with 'a taste for things to come' in the description... here's what all that was about. Quite a while back I made a folder on my computer along the lines of 'lego to make' in which I'd placed two model ideas, with lots of reference photos for each. The first idea was a complete minifig-scale model of the Duke Burger level from the classic game Duke Nukem 3D, the second model being Lando Calrissian's ship, the Lady Luck, from Star Wars (also minifig scale, or near enough to it). The latter probably won't happen simply due to me not having a great deal of grey, and most of my grey being random technic bits and cogs - just nowhere near enough to make a large spaceship. The former I'd toyed around with the idea as I had a fair few parts to possibly make it. Thing is, the more I looked at it (playing the game, taking screenshots of every room inside and out) the more I realised it would also be quite unfeasible - the restaurant itself representing less than half of the level, and that's without taking into account the roads, pavements etc... also it would have been awkward as there was an underground level, so the whole model would have to be built up, and ground floor a few bricks high. Plus, I just don't have enough of the right kind of parts to make most of the underground level and other parts outside of the restaurant itself. Fast forward to the about a week before I posted this. Me having 'always bet on Duke', keeping the faith, and guess what, the game has a release date, and it's june 10, just a few days. Having seen some screenshots, I noticed that Duke Burger is also going to be in the new game - though has a commpletely different design. That decided it. if I was going to make (the original) Duke Burger, I'd better get it don't before the new one comes out and renders mine obsolete. Also I thought it'd be cool to coincide posting a Duke Nukem MOC around about the time the game is coming out. What of the level being too big to build? Well, I simply cut it down. I built just the main restaurant and (partly due to baseplates available, or lack of) decided to draw the line at the furthest-back rooms being the kitchen and toilets, and not do anything from the slaughterhouse/delivery room backwards (and downwards), just keeping the main, basic rooms of the restaurant. So, here it is. Duke Burger. The restaurant that would put Hooters to shame if it actually existed (needless to say at this point, but all the staff are female). I took some photos of the outside (with the cool backdrop from the Lego Studios set) and of the inside. On the outside, you'll find the revolving 'D' logo signpost, the revolving Duke holding a burger, a palm tree, a drive-through menu, and of course the drive-through itself, for which I made a little car just for the fun of it. I cobbled together something supercar-like that ended up looking a cross between a Lamborghini Countach and a Ferrari Mythos for Duke. On the inside, the first thing somebody will see is the 'D' logo on the wall, the seating room has six tables, carrying on forward there's the sauce and cutlery shelf, opposite the serving area, with cash register, soda pumps, menus, burger trays. To the left and right of here are exit doors to the outside, and rubbish bins on either side too. Behine the serving area is the cash register for the drive-through window, and behind this, the kitchen (rat included). Going right from the serving area, then left at the door will lead to some payphones on the right, and toilets ahead. For those who are curious, I've uploaded all the screenshots I took of the level in-game, so you can see what I did make, and what I wasn't able to. Some colours have been swapped around (such as red for brown) simply due to me not having much brown and lots of red, for example. It seems to have uploaded them back-to-front, so the first pictures are what I couldn't- build, and the later ones show what I was able to copy. Here they are: http://s169.photobucket.com/albums/u216/Twistedmethoddan/Duke%20Burger/ Hail to the King, baby !
