BATTLESTAR DEFENDER . WELCOME TO ANOTHER ADDITION TO THE BSG FAMILY . This version of “ Gunstars “ from the colonial Battlestar fleet. Seen in the first season of the Re-imaged Battlestar Galactica. There are lots of versions that have been designed by many brilliant minds. I have looked at many and adapted this model to suite lego limitations ( that is me ). So this is my version of the Defender. This model is by far the largest build I have done to date. Still totally self supported by the technic structure within. Mostly hollow where applicable. The stages of construction can be seen on my other site in brickshelf.com This Beast measures in length 1870mm or 73.5” allowing me to add extra detail. Height of 380mm or 15” Width of 610mm or 24” AMOUNT OF PARTS 22765. Not as many as I first thought but still alot. This BEAST weighs 27.4kilograms or 60.5 lbs. That is heavy and difficult for one to move around. The landing bay is supported by in the mid section by 4 protruding arms from the inner hull of the main ship. The engines before I attached them weighed in at 11 lbs each. These engines were re-designed half way through to reduce the weight and overall size. The defender was first designed in 4 sections to make it easy for moving but proved a down fall for the tiny parts to hold safely so when the hull lining was applied I made it as one. That added to the weight and made it much stronger. It went on its maiden flight on the custom built stand with minor creaking and groaning. ….YEA…. I like this design as it lends its self for another engine re-fit to the rounder and sleeker design I guess there will be even more challenges creating and attaching them onto the hull. The single landing bay has been illuminated for an extra special effect. Thank you for taking the time to view this model and I hope it inspires for more spectacular builds from all the talented people out there. BY REQUEST SOME CLOSE UPS... Sorry for the poor quality as my camera is officially dead and I'm now using the phonecam. Hope you enjoyed them
