The Lighthouse of Alexandria . Straight out of Ancient Alexandria, it's the Lighthouse of Alexandria! Originally standing 450 ft. tall, it's was one of the tallest structures on Earth for hundreds of years, and one of the original 7 Wonders of the World. . Built on the Island of Pharos, The lighthouse of Alexandria was pretty much the only functional of the 7 World Wonders, seeing as instead of being a pyramid or tomb, it was a lighthouse {which provides light (in the dark)}. The lighthouse worked by either having a flame on the bottom that was than reflected by a series of mirrors to the top, or a flame on the top that burned with an eternal passion. Either way, there is a myth that the flame, when aided by the sun, was able to be used as a flamethrower to burn Greece's enemies to the sea 0.o Finally, here's the Lighthouse seen from Google Earth- Ancient World.
