Why?
VW T1 Camper Van, V2.05 (4-wide) . This is my first real 4-wide model of the Volkswagen T1 Camper after a lot of virtual versions built in LDD. The T1 Microbus (called "Bulli" in Germany) is one of my all time favourite VWs. . I still don't have all the parts to built the last version that I have built in LDD. So I made a mix of my models V2.0 and V2.1. This version still has the SNOT side windows which make the white part of the model higher than on the original. Update October 26, 2011: You can see the finished version V2.1 here. I looked for some pictures of the real car after seeing the rectangular wheelhouses on Isaac's T1 and added some covers similar to the ones Dylan used on his Samba Bus. As I said, I still don't have all the parts for the "final" version. So here and there you see grey and black parts instead of red ones and an edgy rear roof which should look just right the front one. I ordered some classic studded axles with white rims with my last BrickLink order. I think with classic tyres they make the best looking wheels for this model. In the side view you can see the gaps between the lower part of the front/rear end and the wheelhouses which will be filled with the 2x2 SNOT converters. The SNOT windows will later be replaced by a set of 3 "rollbars" on each side. The front view is already very close to the "final" look I've planned. Only one stud on each side of the plate just below the windshield will be red instead of white. I used the idea for the "rollbars" on the windscreen that I had seen on Klingus 123's T1. After all, I'm still quite satisfied with the look of this "intermediate" version of my T1. Update December 19, 2011: If you like this one, please take a look at the "finished" version 2.1, too. I like that one even more, and I'd like it to "overtake" it's "younger brother", one day ;-))
