Zevian Class Alliance Destroyer "Scarlet Sunrise" . A destroyer designed long ago when I began my long running RolePlay with my Fiancee. Now seen here for the first time! . If the Nysta Class Carriers were the backbone of the Alliance Fleet, then the Zevian Class Destroyers were the feet that kicked in the enemy's teeth. Even long after the Systems War fought with the Federated Republic, these ships are the envy of all. Many will, and have, kill for a chance to see these lethal vessels. As was typical of all Alliance-Era ships, the Zevian Class Destroyers were powered by two Magnetically Channeled Reaction Drives (MCR), which forced ignited fuel into a high efficiency plamsa burst that was magnetically controlled. Technology of this era often revolved highly advanced and sophisticated magnetic field technology. As with the Nysta Class Carrier, the Zevian was constructed using Armor Tiling. While it was very useful for making battlefield repairs, and provided good protection against conventional weapons, the primary reason was that Armor Tiling would not hinder Effectors as much as bolted armor plating, increasing the chances of the Effector passing through before detonating. The Zevian's largest weapon was a massive Linear Beam Cannon. This weapon occupied much of the forward narrow section of the hull, with capacitors for up to 5 consecutive shots before they would need to be recharged, and the accelerator barrel coolant systems then would need to be cycled to prevent the barrel from melting. The Zevian's primary weapons, however, were the twin Class 4 Effector Cannons mounted on either side of the foreward hull. These weapons were so powerful that a single round could tear through any ship's shields, and a pair of rounds was enough to disable or destroy any ship. The Effector was essentially an energy weapon, but with destructive force un equal to any weapon of equivilent size. These weapons fired a psuedo-crystalline energy projectile which behaved nearly the same as a extreme high-speed physical projectile. Effectors would take raw energy and spin them to unbelieveable levels using a fast charge capacitor. Once charged, the firing chamber would create a distorted magnetic field, and then inject the raw power into the shaped magnetic "packet". Once this energy was inserted, the magnetic packet was powered and maintained by the power within. Once fired, the electrically charged barrel would eject this energy projectile very much like a railgun, often emitting a large crack like miniture lightning. Once ejected from the barrel, Effectors would deplete their energy to maintain their magnetic packet. After expending approximately 45% of it's internal energy, the magnetic packet could no longer maintain it's containment, and the projectile would burst in a lethal blast, often obliterating much of the surrounding area. The denser the material that the Effector traveled through, the faster the magnetic packet would fail. Often, an Effector will detonate within a ship, unleashing untold horrors or destruction within. In addition to the Primary Class 4 Effector Cannons, the Zevian mounted 8 double Class 2 Effector Cannons. While these Effectors were still very lethal to larger ships, they were more suited to dealing with frigates as the were mounted on faster tracking turrets. Class 2 Effectors also charged faster than their Class 4 counterparts, taking a mere 15 seconds to charge instead of 45 seconds that the Class 4 required. Also mounted to the sides of the foreward hull are a pair of enclosed Heavy Torpedo bays, with twelve torpedos each, and additional shield generators. The torpedos could be actively fired, dead dropped like mines, or cold fired. When dead dropped, the torpedos would be eased from their tubes and allowed to float. Any ship that displayed an enemy identifier would active the torpedo once it had reached range. Cold fired torpedos would be fired from internal guass coils around the launcher, without firing the torpedo's drive. This would make the torpedos all but undectectable to enemy ships. The torpedo drives would activate once a viable range had been reached. It is important to know that Effectors are so powerful that a single Class 4 can crack an energy shield in half, reandering the ship unprotected. While the Zevian mounted two shield generators in the stern hull, four additional generators were hidden in the foreward hull. Later, shortly before the Alliance would crumble, these shields would be "magically" augmented to take four Class 4 Effectors before burning out. Here we see the Zevian's Main Cannon being charged and fired. The only reason that the Zevian did not mount a Class 5 Effector as a Main Cannon was that the Zevian's power plants could not handle the serious power draw of the Class 5 system. These weapons were very sufficient at melting through armor plating. CREATOR'S NOTES Well, update two is now complete. So you guys know, I had drawn out the blueprints to these ships (though they seemed to have disappeared). These ships were so fun, and brought me great joy to create, and I hope you like them as much as I enjoyed building them. One more update to go, and I'll leave you with a sneak peak.
