Robotech - Invid Trooper . AKA the Gurab from Genesis Climber Mospeada. . The primary frontline combat mech of the alien Invid, the Gurab is armed with both sharp claws and heavy plasma cannons, though the latter are often dismounted when the brutal machine is used for less martial tasks like overseeing human slaves or demolishing abandoned settlements. As you can see, the colors don't match the show version. Alas, Lego, in their questionable wisdom, does not produce nearly enough purple bricks for this task. I took a page from Chris Roach's and used grey bricks instead. Of course, he probably would have used grey even if the purple had been available, avowed purpuriphobe that he is. There's still a few off colored pieces here and there, and it'll be awhile before I can afford any more bricklink purchases. Overall I'm happy with this, but the proportions aren't _quite_ right. When I finally get around to color-matching, I'll fiddle with them too. "You'll believe a crab can fly!" While I didn't deliberately take any elements from Rabid Goldfish's Invid designs, the coarse granularity of the medium that is Lego guarantees that different creators will often arrive at similar solutions. He still deserves unambiguous credit for encouraging me to finally finish this thing, though. Standing next the the Scout and the Enforcer, we can see that none of them are quite minifig scale, but they are scaled to each other. And I think the "official" figures from the show are unrealistically small anyway.
