This and That - Part VIII . In which the dead rise again. . What a long, strange trip it's been... There is a folder sitting on my desktop marked "lego for mocpages", and it's been there for months. It's time to upload it. LEGO has taken a bit of a backseat to life in recent months. I've been a little too busy with this's and that's to build, and haven't really had the will for it anyway. Maybe someday soon that will change, but in the meantime, here's a bit of nostalgia. Some of you may have seen these before on my Flickr page, but I'm posting them anyway; time to delete that folder. Until Part IX, anyway. = = = = = = = = Rendezvous One reason I'm fond of airports, casinos, soundstages, and conventions: I like really big rooms. = = = = = = = = Situation Room Based on that infamous shot after Bin Laden was killed. This summer, Joe Biden is... BATMAN! = = = = = = = = First thing that came to mind after that new boombox piece came out: Say Anything. = = = = = = = = The Puzzle Machine A paid gig; no idea what the company actually does, but this was the idea the guy had. Nice little build. = = = = = = = = The Big Lebowski Another paid gig, for a big fan of the movie. = = = = = = = = Green Screen While interning at a production company, I got to see a rough cut of an upcoming movie (can't say which one; signed an NDA). The punch line: the special effects weren't totally finished. Cars in front of green screens, voodoo priest face paint in lieu of CGI, actors in safety harnesses: it was all very entertaining. But the best was when there were no effects at all, just text on the screen: "stormy clouds in the distance". A lovable peek behind the curtain. That said, it was a great movie, and you should see it when it comes out in a few months, and I can reveal what it is. = = = = = = = = Traveler = = = = = = = = A Slight Containment Issue ...but nothing to worry about. = = = = = = = = Vampire Killing Kit = = = = = = = = Shorty I wish I had stilts, he sighed. = = = = = = = = It's a Long Way Home = = = = = = = = Until next time.
