Star Wars Balance of the Force Chapter 2 The Council . Following the brutal murder of Jedi Master Juon-Sai at the hands of Hazar Lamus the Jedi return to the Temple on Coruscant where they await the council's decision about Juon's last apprentice Karlo Vinsan, however, even at the heart of the Republic the Jedi are not safe from the agents of the Sith... . In the Jedi Council Chamber Shaak Ti, Saesee Tiin, Master Yoda, Boris Yakerno, Master Ban-Kazi, and Duke Bartolo L'quilac assemble to listen to Alinta Knight.
Alinata-...And so I request to become Karlo Vinsan's new master.
Yoda- A difficult task ahead of you this is, for Master Juon combined teachings of both light and dark. But Ready for this task are you?
Boris- I believe so Master Yoda. Alinta you've trained long and hard yourself it's time you take an apprentice of your own.
Shaak Ti-I agree with Master Boris your training under Master Juon will help you relate with the boy.
Ban-Kazi- And what then? We already took in that Skywalker boy! Are we to take in every force-sensitive that comes in! He is too old! And his training under Juon has polluted his mind with Dark Side teachings! He will corrupt the other apprentices if we allow him in, and considering Juon's other apprentice how do we know he is truly loyal! Surely I'm not the only one who can feel his anger!
Batolo- You are one to talk Ban! When we discovered you you were a full member of the Dark Side and yet we took you in! Despite the fact that you attacked several of our own!
Ban-Kazi- You pompous...You have not ever relinquished your nobility and you accuse me of immorality! Yes I did accept the Dark Side because I lacked guidance but listen to his thoughts! Listen as even now he attempts to hear our conversation!
(Karlo waits brooding as he looks out the window trying to hear the conversation in the room next to his, however he does not notice a mysterious ticking noise just out the window...)
Ban-Kazi- All I say is caution, he must have proper guidance but as always I will respect the will of the council...wait...
Bartolo-What is it?
(A loud explosion is heard from the other room and Ban-Kazi activates his lightsabers and leaps into action)
(The window is blown in and Karlo lays dazed as two figures walk towards him)
Karlo-Uggghh, Who...who are you?
Jalka'Ri-We are the Jalka'Ri and we are the Doom of the Jedi!
(Just then Ban-Kazi bursts in the room and the Jalka'Ri stop)
Ban-Kazi- Boy, What have you done!
Jalka'Ri- Death to the Jedi!
(The first assassin charges at Ban as their blades collide and the second charges)
(The first spins around and chops at Ban as the he parries the second's attack)
Ban-Kazi- What technology is this!
(Karlo levitates the desk as Ban hits the assassin's helmet but no damage is done. The second assassin then jumps in the air)
Ban- A little help Here!
(Karlo throws the table as Ban engages the first assassin and Boris enters)
(Ban blocks the attack and brings his lightsaber in for the final blow)
(The first assassin is decapitated as the second falls to the ground)
Ban-Kazi- Surrender Assassin!
Jalka'Ri- Where one falls more arise!
(The assassin leaps up but is stabbed as he attempts to attack)
Karlo-Thanks for your help, who were those people?
Ban-Kazi-I don't need your thanks, those were the Jalka'Ri a mysterious species of dark side assassins who haven't been seen for nearly 1,000 years!
Karlo-But why did they attack me?
Ban-Kazi- They were here to kill the council and you were in their way! Master I respect the council's will but just heed my warning about the boy!
(Kazi stalks away as Gulio Marcus enters)
Gulio-What happened here?
Boris-Master Ban just defeated these Sith Assassins sent to kill the council and Alinta is about to take Karlo as her apprentice.
Gulio-Interesting, However, Master I have some disturbing news, I need to speak to you in private...
Yoda- Karlo Vinsan in the wake of your Juon-Sai's death and after much deliberation appoint I do Alinta Knight to be your new Master.
(Karlo kneels)
Karlo-I am honored to be at your service master.
Alinta-Arise, there is no need to kneel, I may be your master but I am also your equal. I also served under Master Juon and I hope there is as much I can learn from you as there is I can teach you.
Yoda- In times of war the number of Jedi dwindles every day your your service even now helps the Republic. Now build your light- saber you will, for it is the sword duty of the Jedi to protect and defend the Republic.
Boris-I hate to interrupt Master but Gulio has just informed me of a distress call coming from the Senator from Nar Shadda, He has specifically requested Jedi help but for what reason he didn't say.
Yoda-Then hurry you must for sense i do that these two attacks are not unrelated!
Shaak Ti- And Nar Shadda is controlled by the Hutts their assistance against the Separatists would be most valuable.
Gulio-Right away master! I've already had a ship prepared.
(*Later* In the Training Room)
Karlo- At last a weapon with which I will avenge my master!
Alinta- No Karlo, I know how you feel to lose a master is... painful but the Jedi must never embrace vengeance...
Karlo-But he was your master too! You must feel the same anger as I do!
Alinta- "There is no Emotion there is Peace" I do feel your anger but you must learn to let go lest anger lead you down the path of the Dark Side and consume you. This is my first lesson to you.
(*The Hanger Bay*)
Gulio- The Senator said he is coming for a landing pad not far from here. It is in a remote shantytown area, and we have clones standing by to provide security.
Boris-It still troubles me that he wouldn't come here and I can't help but feeling that Master Yoda was right about those assassins and this Senator being connected somehow...
