King Arthur's Court . . MOCathalon 2012
Globetrotters
For the category "Myths and Legends."
Arthurian legends have always been a great love of mine, so I was happy to get to represent the legend in Lego with this category.
Read T.H White's "The Once and Future King", Mary Stewart's "Crystal Cave" books or Rosemary Sutcliff's "Sword at Sunset", and you'll see that the story is just as complex and riveting as modern books like "The Game of Thrones."
I decided to set my build in a more realistic time period than the Mallory and White stories.
Instead of taking place in the 12th century, this will be set in the 500's, shortly after the fall of Rome.
Instead of being a grand king surrounded by knights in shining armor, Arthur was most likely a British Warlord, trying to reunite the various tribes and bring back the Roman peace.
From left to right, the characters shown here are: Mordred, Arthur's bastard son, conceived of his half sister (weeeeeirrd). Gawain, Mordred's half brother and son of Lot of Orkney. Merlin, a druid of the old gods of Britain. Arthur himself. Guinevere the queen, married to Arthur for political purposes. Bedwyr, the queen's lover (he's taking the place of Lancelot, since Lancelot was a later French addition to the story.)
The last guy is just a guard, no one important.
So there ya go, just another MOCathalon entry.
Since the games are more than half over, and I've only posted two builds, it's time to kick it into a higher gear.
