01/04/12 Res1cue blows up . On 01/03/12, NBCFD's Res1cue was returning from a minor MVA in the south eastern subburbs of NorBrick, when several hooligans threw a small fire-bomb at the vehicle. FFs Will Collman and James Swinney jumped out of the vehicle and attempted to get away, but then the vehicle exploded. 2 bike policemen heard the explosion and quickly cycled to the scene. They told the SCED (Stud County Emergency Dispatch) what was going on and here is what they dispatched: "SCED to all emergency units in SC. We have a serious vehicle fire on NBC west street. The vehicle is belived to be a fire truck. Dispatch Engine 3, Engine 4, Medic 1, Medic 20, SCEMS Supervisor 1, SCEMS heavy rescue 1 and Fly car 10. The ambos were first on scene. . Just as one of the FFs was about to be loaded into an ambo, his heart suddenly stopped beating. The doctor quickly came over and attempted to start it again with a defibrillator, but after 1 hour of CPR, he was pronnunced dead. Our thoughts are with his family as the medics cover him with a sheet. The other FF suffered servere burns all over his body, but survived as his helmet stayed on. Police are stilllooking for the hooligans.
