Republic LAAT/HGS . Built late 2010-early 2011. . The LAAT/HGS (Low Altitude Assault Transport/ Heavy Ground Support) was a very unique addition to the Galactic Republic's army. Although its name suggests it was a kin to other gunships, it was actually an oversized tactical command airspeeder. The LAAT/HGS was most effective in urban and forest environments. Issued: beginning-end of Clone Wars Manufacturer: Rothana Heavy Engineering Armament: 2 heavy cannons, 2 rapid-fire thermal detonator launchers, 1 anti-infantry rotary cannon, and 2 quad missile launchers Crew: pilot, co-pilot, 2 gunners, technical operator, command figure (Jedi General, Clone Commander, etc.) Passengers: up to 12 Flight Ceiling: 1,500 ft. Maximmum Speed: 395 mph (atmosphere) Missile launchers out. Missile launchers hidden. The thermal detonator launchers are slightly based on the Falcon's grenade launchers from the Halo: Reach campaign levels "Tip of the Spear" and "New Alexandria." The LAAT/HGS was one of three of my creations on display at the 2012 Star Wars Days at LEGOLAND California.
