The Last Stand . A more realistic presentation of Alien Conquest... . These are the final memoirs of Lieutenant Richard Barton, ADU soldier. They were recovered from the wreckage of a destroyed building, and depict his thoughts and views on the war up to his death. Date: June 8th, 2010 Time: 9:47 PM Begin Log: In spite of my head injury, I have escaped from the field hospital, and armed myself to fight the Enemy. I cannot end my life bedridden; I must die a warrior's death. As I brace myself against a makeshift barricade, I wonder: Why us? Surely there are other places worth destroying, other planets that would at least have a chance to defend themselves. We had no quarrel with Them, and They come to conquer us. We do not know much about the Enemy. They did not come with goods and wisdom, as some had hoped. They came with weapons of destruction, machines of warfare, and intent to kill. The streets are littered with the scattered remains of the people's attempt to defend themselves. But despite our best attempts, the hastily-constructed barriers, salvaged weapons and mediocre defenses all speak the same message... We never had a chance. It is in these times that we are forced to make a decision. To assume all hope is lost, or hold on to the sliver that may be left. For when we give up, that is when we truly fail. -End of message. Lieutenant Barton was later found dead. His death was caused by a dynamite blast which he set off, destroying a large portion of alien infantry, and in effect, himself. Barton was later rewarded posthumously for his act of bravery. Otherness: Well, this was a fun one to build. I apologize for the overly-dramatic, overly-overdone storyline of a dying soldier's final thoughts, but... Wait, no I don't. The MOC without minifigs. The flaming wreckage. This was my favorite part of the build. Special thanks to Emanuela Teodorescu and Kenton Lanier for providing the pieces used for the windows. The barrier. Credit for the Trashcan design goes to LEGO Universe, my all time favorite LEGO game. Without accessories. Hope you enjoyed it! And of course, feel free to rate and comment. -END OF LINE
