457th Corps: Mission 12 . Mission 12 of the 457th Corps RPG: Taris; the Queen of Hearts. . Mission 12 - Wild Space; a response to neglect
Mission Briefing: Republic forces present within the expansion region have been spread thin - throwing Clone Trooper forces at any planets request. Within the inner core much support has been given to Supreme Chancellor and commander-in-chief Palpatine due to his leadership and involvement in the war effort. It is obvious that the Separatist cause has recently lost its footing in the war as many systems continue to rejoin the Galactic Republic, thus greatly increasing Palpatine's influence in most neutral star systems. Nevertheless, the more 'isolated' regions of the galaxy have been housing the last CIS strongholds. The 457th corps has been redirected to a region referred to as Wild Space - grid coordinates which hold several planets whom live and thrive off spice trade and other independent economies separate from the Republic. We have been issued to move into foreign territory and recover the systems we have lost in the earlier months of this war to increase the Republic support in the galactic war effort. Worlds spanning from the blood-tainted planet of Rattatak to the luscious agricultural haven of Bakura have scattered the legions associated with the corps across an entire region. All troops are encouraged to work in individual teams to carry out their given objectives.
Mission 12.1: Inside Castle Ventress
Mission Briefing: The 316th and 707th legion have been directed to the the red planet Rattatak, unfortunately known for its violent nature and gladiatorial spoils. The planet has been fairly reluctant to any form of civilized rule and has thrived over spilled blood as the Republic has no clearly defined influence on the planetary affairs. Therefore, the Confederacy under league with Darth Tyranus have utilized the planet as a general recruitment center to weed out the most effective assassins throughout the entire galaxy. Advanced Recon Commando Alpha-17 had been performing a covert operation with a hand-picked incursion team to investigate Seppie' activity on the ground. His task force had been apprehended and are currently being held on the surface - the 457th have been sent to intervene. Our target is currently being held within 'Castle Ventress,' a Separatist stronghold installed upon the surface to house Sith Acolyte Asajj Ventress and serve as a base of operations and prison for fellow Rattataki. The Arbiter has entered the oxygen-rich atmosphere of the planet to dispatch the 316th into the small metropolis. As an in-and-out operation, time is a vitality. Our Lieutenants will be attempting to locate ARC Trooper Alpha and his team within the prison block with our troops attempt to draw out the Rattataki Sentries installed within the tall bridges spanning from the stronghold. Good luck, and may the force be with us all.
Command has sent us back to Wild Space to reconquer planets we have lost in the past few months to increase the support for the Republic's war effort. General Obi-Wan Kenobi and Alpha 17 were captured on the planet Rattatak during a scouting mission. They were taken to Castle Ventress- the lair of Asajj Ventress.
Raptor Squad and I were deployed into the castle to rescue them. Once we reached the detention block, I sent Hunter and Snatcher to do some scouting in the deeper holding cells. Hunter seems to be troubled lately- I guess he isn't used to not being in command. He was like that back when we were just cadets.
We got into the Generals' holding cell without trouble and took out the guards. Spark has done some Medical training and he was able to get Obi-Wan and Alpha on their feet. I was impressed. I ordered Kicker and Kye to hide the Droid guards as we began our escape.
When we met up with Hunter and Snatcher they were arguing- it turns out that Hunter just disappeared whilst they were supposed to be scouting. Something is up with him, but we need to get out of this place first before I can talk to him.*
*Mission 12.1 is followed by a short comic I created for the group- Deceived. Ultimately, Hunter and Snatcher are killed in a run-in with Asajj Ventress.
Mission 12.2: Into the Bunker
Mission Briefing: Whilst the bulk of the 316th target the droid bunkers around the desert, you must take General Kenobi to the main droid outpost where you will eventually be extracted from. Before you can leave, you must sabotage the Droidís communications, creating further chaos amongst their forces. Command has also requested that you capture the Tactical Droid left in charge after Ventress left- TA-175. The information contained inside the droid, or more specifically, its head, will greatly aid the Republic in bringing down the Separatist activities on Rattatak.
After 2 weeks of keeping hidden from Droids, communications finally came back online. The 316th Lieutenants needed to find the main Droid Bunker in the Rattatak desert and take General Kenobi there so that the Republic rescue craft would be able to find us.
We managed to find the bunker quite quickly- it was the place where most of the droid patrols had been coming from. The General, myself and Raptor Squad made our way down the entrance hatch into the bunker. Unfortunately Kicker, Rusty and Spark were stopped by an incoming Droideka. Ace, who was making his way down the ladder into the bunker, fired at the monstrosity from underneath and destroyed it.
My remaining team cleared the bunker floor of droid forces whilst General Kenobi captured the Tactical Droid in charge of the CIS forces on Rattatak- TA-175. We could hardly believe it later when we heard that Asajj Ventress was actually in that bunker, but had fled on-board a droid ship as soon as we arrived. The Republic blockade above the planet was able to shoot her down though- she is somewhere on Bakura now. Raptor Squad and I are on-board one of the 316th's flagships- the Arbiter- awaiting further orders. General Kenobi saw us off personally before going to brief the 316th Sergeants on their next mission.
Mission 12.3: Droids are still Droids
Mission Briefing: With chaos all over Bakura, the CIS defence fleet has retreated into Bakura's atmosphere with the intention of bombarding our ground forces. We must capture the defence fleet's flagship- a Lucrehulk-class destroyer. You are tasked with seizing the shield generator room of the vessel, to ensure that once we gain control of this vessel, the ship shall not be left open to attack. Storm the generator room and blast any enemy units you encounter. Proceed with caution however, as reports are coming in of a squad of IG-86 sentinel droids being tasked with guarding the generator.
As I evacuated Rattatak with the rest of the 316th Legion, I was called aside and told that as a Lieutenant, I had a special mission. The CIS fleet above Bakura was preparing to bombard the Republic troops on the planet and needed to be stopped. All of the Corp's Lieutenants boarded the lead Lucrehulk-class destroyer and awaited their missions.
I was soon given my objective- taking the shield generator. My squad made its way to the generator, but was ambushed by a squad of IG-86 sentinel droids. They were tougher than regular battle droids, but Droids are still Droids and several EMP grenades stopped them in their tracks. I am on my way to the generator now.
