Tsleel and Velera, 2012 Game of Riddles Contest . . Hello hello. This is my entry for the 2012 Game of Riddles contest. Link to the contest. And before you ask, yes, they are Etherians. XD If any of you are unaware of what an Etherian is, look here. Now, to explanations, and the riddle. The first was strong, though not the way you think I took this to mean strong willed. Velera, Controlling Emotional Energy, is very strong willed. The second gave the questions, thought right out of the brink I took this to mean quick witted. But since I could not enter myself, (Yes, that was a cheap shot), I made Tsleel to be quick witted and a fast thinker. They were a small team, some would say Etherians. 'Nuff said. XD These little ones were the loompas in there own way. I, like Wertman, have NO idea what that's supposed to mean, but it rhymes with the riddle so I figured it moot. Keep going and you'll find their bios. Here they are together. I am quite happy with how both of them came out. 'Nother together shot. Just Tsleel. Don't ask about the name. I don't want to explain it. His Bio. Tsleel shook his head. He knew today was not going to be good. Tsleel's best friend had been killed yesterday. With no one else left, it was up to Tsleel to tell his friend's family about it. As Tsleel headed for the door he heard something. It was no surprise what he heard in a given day, possessing power over sound energy, but the little ticking noise was an unusual sound to here. Tsleel looked over at the clock on the wall, the one that he broke just shy of ten years ago. He knew the sound couldn't be coming from there. So Tsleel began looking else where. Using his abilities, Tsleel made local sound waves visible to himself. Then he focused his hearing down to that single ticking noise. Following the sound he found a small metal box with a glowing red light on it. The box also had two wires sticking out and curling in through two holes into the box. Tsleel wished he had his best friend's ability to read the past and future of an item, but he did not. After inspecting the box for a few more seconds Tsleel noticed the ticking sound growing faster and louder. Suddenly Tsleel knew what the box was. He dropped the box and sprinted to the door. Just as he reached for the knob he heard a loud crash from behind him. Tsleel's eyes opened and all he could see around him was white. Is this what the After looks like? Tsleel laughed to himself. "No, Shooter, it's not." Said a voice behind Tsleel. Tsleel jumped to his feet spinning toward the voice. A white child stood before him. Tsleel was confused. He was sure he had heard an older voice. The child laughed with the booming graveled voice of an old man. "Trust your ears Tsleel. They have not been wrong yet." the child said before turning and running toward what looked to be a hole in the expanse of white. "Wait!" Tsleel sprinted after the child but it was no use. Tsleel jumped through the hole in the white and landed in what looked to be a forest. A large crowd was gathered around Tsleel. Two people made their way to the front and walked to Tsleel. They were orange and green. Tsleel saw a small blue figure make its way behind them as well. "Welcome!" The orange being said. Before Tsleel could answer he was tackled to the ground by the small blue figure. "Glory be! Another one of us!" the being said. Tsleel looked up and saw that this being was like him! It was an Etherian! Tsleel smiled. "What do they call you?" said the blue Etherian. "My name is Tsleel. Though most people call me Shooter." Tsleel said. "Ah! I'm Tzfarda. I was given the name Frog, but I never really liked it. Of course that doesn't stop Ver." Tzfarda laughed. After the introductions, and Tsleel discovering that he no longer looked like himself, Tsleel was led through a small pathway underneath large spiked plants by Tzfarda. "I think Ver will like you, Shooter." Tzfarda had said. Tsleel wasn't so sure that whoever Ver was, she would like anybody if this is what it took to get to her. "She is a little feisty though, so you'll need that quick wit of yours." Tzfarda's descriptions had not filled Tsleel with confidence. Soon they came upon a small crystal clear pond. Just beyond it was a small structure. It looked like a house made from a stump. "She's in there." Tzfarda nodded toward the house. Tzfarda then turned and began back down the path they had just come. "Hey! Where are you going?" Tsleel asked. He was not going into that house alone. "I have to do something for Esh. He didn't tell me what it was, so I'm kinda excited. You'll be fine. Just make a lasting impression." Tzfarda said nodding. Tsleel gulped. When he opened the door he found the inside completely pitch black except for what little light came in through the closed shutters. After taking a few steps inside Tsleel let the door close behind him. "Hello?" he called out. With no answer Tsleel closed his eyes and let his power consume him. He listened intently focusing on every small sound. He heard a single breath. With his eyes still closed Tsleel walked toward the sound. Tsleel dampened his footfall's sound so as to remain hidden. After traveling through what felt like most of the house Tsleel stood. His eyes were still closed but he knew in this dark house, they would only be a hindrance. Tsleel felt a presence behind him and heard the swish of a blade. Tsleel almost laughed at the meager attempt to hit him and he easily dodged out of the way. The blade came back up towards him and Tsleel jumped up. He fell easily on top of the blade and he landed on the ground standing over the blade. A fist struck out towards his head and Tsleel easily blocked it. "Well you know how to fight, I'll give you that." a scornful female voice said. "A true fighter would not have tried to strike at my back." Tsleel said hurling the same scornful tone back at the girl. "Humph." The female said. Tsleel heard a light click and he opened his eyes. "I'm Velera." said the black and purple Etherian standing in front of him. Tsleel bowed quickly. "I'm Tsleel. but most people call me Shooter." Velera looked at him suspiciously. "What kind of a name is that?" she asked with a mean edge to her voice. "The one given to me. Ver." Tsleel added the last part with his own scornfully edged tone. "Humph." Velera sighed. "They call me that because of my mouth. My mind tends to make my mouth move before I wish it too." Tsleel said taking the edge off his voice. Velera looked at Tsleel for a moment. Tsleel wondered what she was looking at him for when she spoke. "Come on." she said, the edge gone from her tone too, "I want to show you something." Tsleel and Velera are now one of the best scouting teams. They are some of few who have been inside the black forest. With Tsleel's ability to cancel noise made from a small surrounding area, he and Velera can move without being heard. Partnered with Velera who can control the emotions of weak minded beings and can gauge the feelings of beings, they are able to slip in and out of anywhere. Tsleel's name of Shooter has only become more appropriate as his skills with a bow were uncovered. Tsleel's ability with a bow have led to his famous saying, "I only need one." They now serve as one of Esh's most trusted scouting teams. Well, that was a fun story to tell. To the photos!! Front view. Back view. Torso and head detail. I love that head. I made it like this to give a little more attention to the fact that Tsleel's ears are so good. I also made the torso to look like a vest. Kinda like an animal skin vest given that he is exceptional with the bow. Pulling out his arrow. Archery pose! Different view. From the back. Aiming up. Without bow drawn. Ok. My turn. Now to her bio. Velera smiled. She could almost taste the hate pouring from the large black being in front of her. She knew how to use that against it. "So, Are you gonna charge or are you just going to stand there reeking this place up?" she taunted it. A horrid guttural growl was released from the being and Velera could feel the rage building up in it. "Come and get me, Smelly." she taunted again. The creature had inevitably had enough. It swung one of it's large clawed hands towards Velera. She easily jumped out of the way. She landed by one of the thick columns holding the ceiling up inside this cavern. "Is that it? I was hoping for a challenge..." still taunting. The being swung its hand again. Velera jumped out of the way again. Crack! She smiled. The column came tumbling down. The being was too slow and got smashed by one of the large pieces of stone. Velera walked over toward the fallen being a smirk on her face. She reached down and pulled a small glowing orb from it's satchel. She held up the orb, and seeing no damage done she put it in her own bag. Velera began walking away when she heard a crash from be hind her. "That does not belong to you..." a deep graveled voice said. Velera turned to see the being had stood to its feet and held its humungous hand on another one of the support columns. "This was my fathers," she said, "I have every right to have it." The being laughed. "Then you shall die as he did. Alone in the mines." The being crushed the bottom of the column easily in its fist. Velera gasped. She turned and ran toward the exit. Crashing and crumbling noises sounded from all around her. As she ran a piece of a column dropped in front of her and she reacted just in time to move out of the way. Velera grunted as she hit the ground. Then she looked up. Only ten feet above her a boulder seemed to hang in the air. Time slowed as the boulder fell straight down. Velera knew this was it. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She waited and waited. But she never felt the boulder. Velera opened her eyes. A world of white landscape spread out before her. She stood to her feet confused. How... "Welcome child." A voice said. Velera felt peace emanating from this voice. Strangely she felt very at home listening to it. Velera stood and turned toward the voice. A small white child stood before her. Velera said nothing. She could only feel joy and peace coming from the strange child. "Hmm, I see. Well, we should waste no time. I have need of you else where and they wait for you." the child said with a voice like an old man. The child pointed towards a hole behind him. the hole looked like it lead towards a forest of sorts. Velera nodded and walked towards the hole. When she reached it she dropped through and landed amid a crowd. She was indeed in a forest. Looking around she noticed that she looked different. This did not bother as she always felt she didn't look like she felt. As she stood looking down at herself a voice spoke behind her. This voice had the same sense of joy that the white child did. "Welcome!" an orange being said. "Hello." Velera returned. Out of the corner of her eye she saw something blue move through the crowd of cheering people. She focused her powers to feel this beings emotions. The being was very excited. Velera turned to see the blue being pop out of the crowd. She gave a slight gasp. It was another Etherian. "What's your name?" the blue Etherian asked. "Velera." She said. The blue Etherian laughed. "Ok, Ver. I'm Tzfarda." he said. Seven hundred years passed. Velera sat on top of her perch watching the crowd gathered at the Calling. A small red being appeared out of no where and dropped on the ground. Velera could tell that it was one of them as soon as she saw Tzfarda running through the crowd. Knowing Frogger, he'll bring the new guy here. I guess I should go get ready. Velera did not expect the red Etherian to be as skilled as he was. After that first day they became friends quickly. Velera found out she was at a slight disadvantage around Tsleel. While she could feel the emotions of others, and if the being was weak of mind she could change its emotions, Tsleel could hear the thoughts of beings if in contact with them. Now with both of their abilities working together they make a great scouting team. They have even once found Shiol and almost got close enough for Tsleel to hear his thoughts. Now, they put Tsleel's ability to good use by hearing what shadow beings they come across are thinking. This has come in handy several times and they have foiled many attempts to attack the Garden doing this. Back to the photos. Front view. Back view. Ready to fight. Hand on hip. Holding her little grenade launcher. Taking aim. Watching us. (Don't blink) Keeping and ear out. The team back to back. Both taking aim. Why, hello, hello, what have we here? All three of my Garden Etherians XD All poised to fight. All: Bye!! Creator's Comments: Well. I enjoyed building both of these guys. When I read that the riddle said that I had to make the team small, Etherians were my first thought. I had been planning on building more of these guys and this gave me the opportunity. I know I had more to say here, but I forget what it was XD I do have a hidden preview of my next "Glorified Tablescrap" though, so look around for that. :) Thanks for viewing!!
