Hornet-Fire MK IV . The Hornet-Fire is a concept WWII fighter/bomber that I made up. It isn't based on any one plane and even the ace of aces wouldn't want a paint job to be that flashy! The plane was built for a LEGO stop motion called Pilots of the Caribbean, but production for that is on hold until further notice (check my home page for more info). . About the plane: The Hornet-Fire started out as a micro scale plane, approximately 1/3 Minifigure (though at the time I thought it was 1/4). Latter I built the first Minifig scale version which went through two rebuilds and other modifications to get where it is today. the Hornet-Fire MK I Ė MK III.5 The current model has moving ailerons, rudders, elevators, and flips. The landing gear is retractable and even the wings have been able fold up since the MK III. The plane has a rear guns since it is meant to be used as both a fighter and a bomber. I havenít changed too much in this version, just some minor adjustments to improve the strength and make the guns more realistic. Specs: *Engine: Bio-Diesel V12 *Crew: Two, one pilot, one gunner *Armament: Four 22 caliber MGs and two 20mm cannons in wings, plus one rear mounted double barreled 50cal MG. -Payload: Up to eight rockets and two 500lb bombs or 50 gallon drop tanks under, plus one fuselage mounted 500lb bomb or 50 gallon drop tank. -The plane can also carry bullet pods to double its cannon/MG ammo in place of its normal wing mounted armament. *More stats to come, maybe, I donít know enough about planes to go into more detail. Lots-O-Pictures!: Pictures of cockpit: Cockpit open It doesn't really have hinges, so it is just balanced there, but this is how it would open. Pictures of armament configurations: Bullet pods for extra ammo Moving control surfaces Wings folded Landing gear: It goes up and down! Minifig scale model next to 1/3 Minfig scale model Final pic: Me and my right hand man Sam about to go up to meet our destiny! The future: Nothing planned as of yet, I hope to rebuild the mini model sometime and make it 1/4 minifig scale instead of 1/3, but I'm pretty happy with the full scale plane right now. Hopefully Pilots of the Caribbean will get of the ground someday, hopefully as a stop motion, a comic just would be as cool.
