Pink & Hot . HotRod and Convertible 1950´ies cars. . I present you some of the last cars for the MegaMOC 2012 project. (Although a couple of trucks/vans might be constructed still...)
First off, vehicle #23; the HotRod, which is basically a rebuild of the yellow Rod from MegaMOC 2011 "Cachins Motors Surprise", but here adapted to my VERY limitied collection of Bright Cyan pieces.
Secondly, vehicle #24; another study in "rare colours", namely this bright pink convertible, oozing of ´50´ies atmosphere everywhere you look;
As this is the last "normal" car of the project, I wanted to show a little of the typical problems that I have encountered making this kind of cars.
The partly-covered rear-wheels are normally done in one of 3 ways. This is the most typical and simple I´ve used, namely a single head-light brick and a tile on the side;

Almost all of the pink pieces have abysmal clutch-power! Not a major problem when I built the pink "Painted Ladies" house, but for something as flimsy and detailed as this car, that is a major problem.
If TLC continues like this, quality-problems will be their demise, as they leave the door open to any household chinese molding company to eat market-shares with similar quality products for a fraction of the price...
The front is always the main problem, and this one certainly caused many headaches, particulary becuase of a limited selection of pink pieces.
No two cars in the collection are made the same way; All fronts and backs are different, presenting totally different technical solutions.
Part of the front is actually "floating", or "prisoner", as it is not connected to any stud. Around half of the vehicles contains some kind of floating part. (But always different)
The majority of the cars dont roll at all, mainly because I prefer to lower the car half a plate height (for looks). Actually some of the constructions would be much simpler AND the car would roll, if I let it ride this half-plate higher. -But as this proejct is all about LOOKS and aestethics, I´ve opted for the difficult and impractical way...
