Why?
Rupriikki diorama . Miniland-scale diorama that displays how popular tv show was filmed in Finland during early 1960s. . My first commissioned work is finally finished! This display is themed around the early time of finnish TV and especially showcases the filming of one of the first long-running finnish tv shows, "Heikki and Kaija", in the early 1960s. In this display, the filming crew is filming the actors while editors in the "control room" do the preparations to broadcast the signal to viewers. Back in those times, videotaping the program was not common practise, atleast not in Finland where this technology was cutting edge and very expensive. Because of the lack of videotapes, there is only handful of episodes of "Heikki and Kaija" show in digital form which is kinda strange as the show ran 10 years! When it comes to this creation, it was created to fit in the new permanent display of the Rupriikki Media Museum. Because of the diorama had to be built to showcase real life event, real life equipment and real life persons, I used dozens of pictures to design and built this diorama. Of course, some artistic freedom had to be used as LEGO bricks not very, very flexible material and as not everything could be shown in very detailed way. However, both the museum and myself are in the end happy how the creation came out. Miniland scale is rather rare building scale nowadays so it was fun to challenge myself a bit! Pictures available also in Flickr and Brickshelf.
