Xarkon "Fafnir" Aerospace Fighter (+ Prototype) . Dare ye face the flames of the Fafnir? . LEGO by: Ryan "Fyre-Fox" Adams Model Name: XAF-Y01 "Fafnir" Weight Range: Medium Speed: Fast Flight abilities: Air and space with Interstellar Drive Armaments: 2 Medium energy cannons, 2 Medium blazer machine guns, and 2 Medium pulse lasers Capacity: 1 pilot The Xarkon "Fafnir" Aerospace fighter was originally the design of Yavakarese engineer Katsumoto Sato, though after a debt paid to Lucas Mars, he handed over the designs to Xarkon and helped with the production of the Prototype of what would have been the "Kitsune" fighter. It has still yet to be reviewed by Mars, though when it does, it will no doubt be sporting more colors representative of Xarkon. The Fafnir, named after the ancient Norse dragon, is a very fast ship, though it does not have very high maneuverability due to it's long wingspan, thus only Xarkon's most skilled pilots will be able to fly this well. Despite being a lighter ship in terms of firepower, it is still not to be underestimated. Above: Just a few random pictures of the body overall. Above: These are pictures of the body, and inside the body I made a little engine... thing. I dunno, I just thought it would be a nice detail to add in, and I think it turned out pretty well. Oh yeah, the wings detach from the body cleanly as does the cockpit, so that's a nice little feature. Above: This is the cockpit. This was honestly really hard to do. I was going for a design that was slim, but still looked good with the body and was made so a minifigure could actually fit inside it. Mission accomplished I'd say. I know, I used the printed pieces and I'm not really sure how that affects it, whether it makes it look more detailed or not, but hey, things can only go up from here, right? Just to finish off, here are a couple shots of the pilot with her ship. Who's the pilot? I'm not sure. Maybe it's some random pilot, maybe it's the Full-fledged Enomeg Tanya Silent-Cobra. Also there's a picture that shows the crown of Xarkon. See if you can find it hidden in the ship design. ----------------------------- Other things I have to say that aren't under the pictures: Well, to start off, this build is- I mean was for a sci-fi universe called Nova Refuge (Not of my own making, but of Justin "Saber-Scorpion" Stebbins's, which I highly recommend you check out if you're a fan of sci-fi (Check it out here: http://www.novarefuge.com/ )). Anyhow, this build was started because of a contest to build a ship from either the factions Yavakaro or Zygbar, and the idea started out as one, however as the ship began to take shape, it more represented Xarkon (having the crown of Xarkon as it's basic design is very common for Xarkon to do with their ships, er, hypothetically). The only problem with it is that it has more Yavakarese colors as opposed to the Xarkonian dark grey, black, and crimson mix. It will be quickly fixed though. I actually started this build really... weirdly. I'm not really sure how most sci-fi fighters start out their ships, but this was my first starship fighter I've really put some effort into making, so I actually started out with the right and left wings first AND THEN (about 3 months later) made the body. It took another 4 months for me to get to making the cockpit (I finished it about a month and a half ago). I think I might start with the cockpit from now on, seeing as it's insanely difficult to find a way to build a body/cockpit to fit the wings as opposed to making the former first and the latter after. It was a fun build though, and I think I'll be doing a few more fighters in the future.
