Why?
Close Call at the Black Gate of Mordor . This model was one of my entries in the LEGO Lord of the Rings Building Challenge.I am still trying to figure out how to upload images, so I should have more up soon. . This model depicts the scene from THE TWO TOWERS when Frodo saves Sam after he gets stuck in a crack in the ground. Frodo and Sam were watching a troop of dark humans marching towards the Black Gates of Mordor when Sam fell from the cliff that they were standing on. He lands in a crack in the ground and gets stuck. Frodo slides down to help him, causing several rocks to come falling down. A couple of the dark warriors come over to see the cause of the rockslide. Frodo desperately throws his Elven cloak over himself and Sam. The cloak camouflages the hobbits, and makes them look like a rock. Seeing nothing, the warriors walk off. I have done my best to make this model look as realistic as possible. The rocky walls were almost effortless to do, as they are supposed to look uneven and asymmetrical. The skull adds an ominous touch to the layout. As for the minifigures, I gave Frodo Gandalf's cloak so that it would be large enough to cover both hobbits. The dark human-warrior-guy (If only I knew the actual name of his group of warriors!) was relatively easy. Lando Calrissian's helmet with samurai armor made his outfit look just right. As for Sam - well, I did my best. I hope you enjoyed it!
