MO Round 6 : Tom Remy Vs Stuart Delahay - Dance On A Volcano . My entry for the 2012 MocOlympics Round 6 . The link to the 2012 MocOlympics…
The entry of my worthy/scary opponent from across the Channel : Stuart Delahay! Good luck man, and may the best Mocist get in the finals!!
“Storm of the Century: Build us a moc showing nature at her worst! Is it a hurricane, a blizzard, a tornado? Any natural disaster you wish. It MUST be an actual type of disaster. No “acid rain” melting the buildings or anything like that (that was a different category).”
In order to show Mother Nature at her worst, I decided to venture in a microscale build. I also wanted to do something different from my round 2 entry which featured… a tsunami! Therefore, this is a volcanic eruption. I’ve been listening to Genesis while building, so the title came out naturally…
Since it's very very late, I'll let the pictures do most of the talking.

The Old Quiet is a small shield volcano. It’s been quiet (!) for tens of thousands of years, but on December 5th 2012, it suddenly decided to spill out all of its lava on the lands, threatening the little coastal town of Pleasant Beach.
The massive lava flow has already torn the highway apart...
A shot from above. The MOC is 80x64 studs (64x51 cm).
The forest is starting to burn.
The streets are jammed with people getting away as fast as they can...
The town features a 1970 theater, residential buildings from different eras, a Hall of Justice, hotels and bars by the port.
Lots of vapour as the lava touches the sea.
These cars have avoided the deadly dive... for how long?
A giant lava bubble forming...
The highway and lava field from above
Each side of the MOC is finished, and displays the layers of lava and ashes the volcano's previous eruptions left.
Two bonus pics:

Commentary : As Stu already said, we both didn't have the time we needed to complete our MOCs... Nevertheless, I hope we give you a good matchup to enjoy! I wanted to include many more details, and work on the mountain shape a little more. I also initially planned it 16 studs longer, but shortened it to make sure it's finished... or at least nearly finished! Whatever the result may be, I thoroughly enjoyed my first MOCOlympics! But it will also be a relief to have the time I want to complete my builds again... Stu if you make it, I'll be rooting for you in the finals!
The deadline is in thirty minutes, so I'll stop editing the page now, and get me a couple hours of sleep...
Thanks everyone for viewing and especially the judges! Good luck to all the Final Four! Please rate and comment…
