Classic Space Pocket Money Contest Entry . Solo Space and Hostile Environment Exploration Craft. . The double Dave classic space contest was just too tantalising to ignore. I've worked on this to the limit my marriage will tolerate. I knew from the start I wanted to make a space craft because the playabilty limit of such is endless. It needed a sturdy cockpit and I wanted the vessel to accommodate both a Spaceman and his buggy. Blue and grey with yellow glass were the original space colours so they would be the ones. I didn't want to stay exactly in the original style, I wanted something more up to date but with a nod to the halcyon days. Most pieces used were available then but probably not all. The pieces I felt were most needed were the yellow glass, the red and green wing lights, something with a logo emblazoned upon it and the small twin laser cannon. The piece count? 100, so this would have been the most expensive of the pocket money toys but come on, you get a spaceship!!!!! Other features are the eight multi-directional aft mounted thrusters, landing ski and two storage hooks.
There is a lot of evidence of classic space Lego throughout Gipswijk, but I couldn't use a fair bit of it.
I found an unused grey slope logo brick! yay.
Lovely opening mechanism on this cockpit.
The sides come off quite easily, revealing a functional interior.
One man and his buggy.
Alternate A, hardly inspiring. Kind of a mobile ack-ack thing, I guess.
I reckon the imperial war machine saw this and got the idea for an AT-AT. Kind of.
The first 43 pieces
The second 57
Although the max 100 pieces, it didn't take long to reassemble, thankfully.
Right, I think that'll do, I'd better become a better husband and father for a while now, hope y'all like it.
