Combinators: Prototype 0.6 Reinforcements LDD . Ultra upgrade for the prototype 0.5 team. .
New sub-team of Five new prototype Fliers and Pilots for the Combinators: Prototype0.5 team.
Five new warriors and their prototype fliers, now includes:
This is sort of a precursor to the gold fleet and functions in much the same way. However, unlike the gold fleet when was both armour and weapons, this time the reinforcements function entirely as armour upgrades.
A new super weapon is in development if I can figure out how I want it to attach the the various reinforcement craft.
When the uploader is working again I'll sort out some comparison shots between the various incarnations of the ultra units. And demonstrate that this team CAN combine with the other core teams, construction, stealth shadow and space ninja.
Made a couple of amendments. Now the Black Reinforcement fighter has weapons pods which remove to form the swords of the ultra form.

The morning after bit....
I'm going to start reviewing my own work a day or two after the fact just to give a fresh perspective with new eyes, and where possible, as if I'm not the person who built it.
I like the fact that I've managed to carry over the prototype 0.5 team aesthetic into all the new designs, retain ALL of the Gold Fleet function while coming over as a more coordinated build.
The new team members look pretty good in gold, a deliberate nod to the Space Ninja upgrade team.
It isn't immediately obvious, but the arms and legs are attached differently in the space ninja version of the ultra form. This was because the main body and foot designs for the older version are slightly wider. Because of this the two white plates on the sides of the arms have been rotated 180 degrees so they stick out to the side, rather than in towards the body. On the feet, the fliers wings have been rotated 180 degrees so they are pointing down rather than up. I did experiment with the idea of having them set at 90 degrees so as to act as a heel, but it mean positioning them at a slight outward angle and that created too large a foot print.
My only issues with the new team surround the feet and weapons.
The Weapons - Because of the way I've designed the hilt it is impossible to turn them so the energy blade edge faces forward. I had the same problem with the gold fleet design.
Feet - despite being EXACTLY the same length and height as the foot extensions for the Gold version, they somehow look smaller? I think they may have benefited from being about a brick height longer at the back, if for no other reason, to make it more stable.
