Tatiyama Island . . The Naran Captial cityscape is vast feat of environmental and architectural engineering. A piece of the capital sits on a peninsula on the main island, and the rest is positioned on approximately 70 islands extending several miles into the sea in a roughly circular shape. The shape of the islands and their positions have come to be labeled as the three rings: inner, middle and outer. These islands vary in size from spits of land in the outer that are sparsely if at all populated, to several medium sized islands in the middle ring, to the larger islands in the inner ring, which are heavily populated and hold the seat of power for the Shogunate, Nara Castle. This location and shape of the city is important for several reasons, the first one being defense. The rocky out crops of the outer and middle rings protect against the crashing waves, as well as any would be invasion fleet. Any fleet would be forced to disperse into single ships or smaller craft that would easily be picked off by the guard castles located on most islands. The second reason being that the water in the middle and inner rings is calm, clear and shallow, allowing for fishing boats to claim the bounties of the sea with ease. The city as a whole is self sufficient, with most islands in the middle and inner rings being farmable, as well as having fresh water storage barrels for when it rains. Each island is part of the whole, but has its own culture and ways the allows them to be unique. Tatiyama Island is an island located on the outer edges of the middle ring. As with all sizable islands, there is a Guard castle that acts as the island administration, defense and storage of resources, mostly food and fresh water. There are also several houses, a small farm and abundant sea life. Transportation and supply delivery is provided by small rafts that visit the island weekly. Most villagers collect their own fresh water as well but this is the main used.
