Rubber-Tired Excavator (31005) . I miss treads... . This is the first thing I made with 31005 after disassembling the main model. All the excavators I've ever seen in person have had treads, which I like more than tires, but all my treads are at home and apparently this is a thing. So! Tires it is. The boom is somewhat articulated, but I was focusing more on making it look good (notice the hydraulic rams).(Again, I apologize for the blurry pictures). An action shot from the other side. That little "shelf" sticking out of the cab doesn't really belong there, but I did what I could to make it blend in. It's the end of one of these brackets, which I used to make the pivot. Worth it for the functionality, I think. I wish I'd taken a better picture of the counterweight. I used one of the wheel wells to smooth out the shape and it worked quite nicely. You can see it best in the main photo. Thanks for looking!
