Gurunu: Demi-Toa of Space . The most tragic tale of the Demi-Toa, that of a once wise turaga, now a maddened monster. . In a valiant effort to rid Kueva-Nui once and for all of Mukraatan, the Toa Mahi and the Toa Kueva ventured down into Mukraatan's lair to face untold horrors and eventually the dark entity himself. They fought everything from Rahi to Bohrok to Vahki to Dark Hunters, even several Infernos, killing them all without much of a struggle. Once they reached Mukraatan, they all combined their efforts in an Armageddon of sorts, the final blow landed by Tohuka, his sword in Mukraatan's throat. In his last dying breath, Mukraatan let loose a violent wave of corruptive radiation, rumored to be his blood, affecting the entire continent. At this point, the corruption seeped into the Toa Mahi, the Toa Kueva, and the Toa of Judgement, infusing itself with its hosts, creating Demi-Toa, or half Toa. As a result, their physical forms have mutated and they have gained considerably more power than ever imaginable. However, with that new power comes a temptation to misuse it, stronger than any other felt before. Mastering their new power marks the beginning of their new journey, for the corruptive radiation opened up portals all over Kueva-Nui , allowing untold horrors, access to the surface, such as Infernos or Krita Ghost Soldiers, even Sidi-Koro, who survived the battle by infusing her body with the power of her poison staff. This is where the journey begins.
For those who don't know, Gurunu was originally a Turaga who turned back into a Toa of Judgement.
Gurunu disappeared in the battle against Mukraatan after throwing himself in front of a dark blast meant for Tohuka, his most loyal student. Some say he was sucked into a rift in the space-time continuum, and though this is doubted, it is the only rumor to surface as to his whereabouts. After the other toa had left the caverns, he reappeared, still in his Kueva form, but severed from his power of judgement (see kueva form if confused), left starving, ravenous to fill the void left from his loss of power. After noticing a pool of Mukraatan's radiation, cooled into liquid, he struggled to craw to it, his armor heavy, and drink it dry. He drank it all. He then felt his power return in greater heights than ever before, but he felt his form change, and his savagery strengthen. He was no longer the Gurunu who counciled the Toa, for the radiation brought out a mostrous side of him, one that desired revenge, slaughter, and warfare. He eventually found the toa and confirmed he still lived, and will help them in combat, but still keeps to his own agenda, unbenownst to all but himslelf, for he felt he was abandoned in the caverns, left to die. His new power is over space, itself, and he can channel dark energy from the continuum through his warped trident. His mask, permenantly stained with the color of Mukraatan's blood, took the shape of a mask of hunger, and he can therefore drain his opponent's energy and then channel it through his trident against them.
The trident. I thought Hahli's weapon would look good as a warped version of Gurunu's staff of light.
Channeling dark energy from the continuum. He can also filter it through his hand to remove instabilities which would weaken it. The filtered energy is recycled back into the cosmos.
