Z'ceptor Ugly Starfighter . . Ain't it precious! Yeah I know what you’re thinking, "I would never give very many heads to something so studdy" Well, if it looks like a piece of junk I threw together over the weekend, than I'll be mightily offended. In fact it took me three weekends, yet a peice of cobbled together junk is the result. Why doesn't that surprise me? Here I go into this build thinking the Z'ceptor (from Handbook 1: X-wing Rogue Squadron) was constructed from the salvaged parts of an Incom Corp. T65 X-wing and a Seinar Fleet Systems TIE\in Interceptor. Then, not ten minutes ago I check Wookipedia.com (where I got the reference image below) and discover I had the Interceptor part right but the engines, fuselage, and two of the four laser cannons are from an Incom Corp. Z-95 Headhunter. That, folks is why it is important not to build first and ask questions later. The Z'ceptor is what chaps in the Galaxy Far Far Away term and 'Ugly', that is, a ship made from salvage because the builders are either too cheep or to poor to buy anything better. Thus they abound in planetary defense forces and interstellar pirate gangs. As I hope you can see--sorry about the grainy images, folks--this Ugly is armed, not only with the laser cannons of the Z-95 but also with those of the TIE Interceptor and the turret from an old Y-wing. She seats one pilot and one astromech that almost appears to be hardwired into the craft’s nose, though I'm now told that's where the astromech socket is. I'm sorry about the light grey wing tips, but I don't happen to own the official TIE Interceptor or any other set containing the black angled 6x3 bricks. Ideally, the light grey 2x3 angled bricks would be dark grey, but, as the media constantly reminds us, our world is far from ideal. The dramatic profile...okay, more melodramatic. As you can see, I used the engine design I had developed on my X-TIE Ugly because I didn't know I should be using the elements from my Z-95 Headhunter. Still, I like it better this way. They actually stuck the rear of the fuselage through the squint's eyeball. I kept the opening TIE cockpit for convenience when making repairs. And since all of you wanted to see her standing on her own three landing gear... And the esteemed andris smuggler, Lancea Viru, armed with her trusty wrench to combat evil breakdowns. Honestly, I bet she has more problems with the craft than with the cops. God bless yee all.
