A Study of Microcities . With all due respect to the great Shannon Young... . There are many kinds of Microcities; I am going to bring you through three of them by telling you my opinions on them while showing you some I've made...I hope I'm not stepping over my bounds. What am I but a fan?
Bley. You know what I'm talkin' about: grey, lifeless, awesome, ect. Most of the time you will find them to be total SNOT as that is quite easy to do with just bley.
You can find some excellent Bley Microcities from the minds of Nannan Z, (here) and Mike Bernd. (here)
The Generic Microcity. By far the most well known, the whole thing started with Shannonia, which was one of these. (Obviously, as it was the first one) Generic Microcities are a lot more colorful than the Bley ones, and have plenty of grills for parking lots. (Which Bley Microcities do not always have)
In these you can find plenty of unique buildings, cool color combinations, and many bodies of water. Some of the more popular Generic Microcities are, of course, Shannonia, the large Squidtropolis, and the neat Gongfujian. I have also made one of my own called Luseville. (here)
Star Wars Microcities. I don't have much to say here other than I like the other two types a whole lot better.
Some fine examples of these you can find here and here.
And so ends my short little commentary on three types of Microcities. Feel free to leave constructive criticism on my three tiny little cities. MICROcities that is. =)
EDIT: Okay, so now that we got everything cleared up, Shannon Young made ONE OF THE FIRST colorful microcities of the exact scale as you see in this MOC, and then made it popular. That sound good? =)
