Why?
LURP - HL . What is a LURP you may ask ... it is a Load-bearing Undercarriage Rolling Platform. The HL stands for High Lift ... and this is one version of the LURP series that the Shadow Force produces. . LURPs are built to withstand extremely heavy loads, such as the load seen here. This is one of the Rising Sun's main engines, supported by two durasteel cradles. The cradles are not a permanent part of the LURP ... they are just a temporarily attached to the upper platform for this job. The LURP-HL's main feature is it's scissor-lift system, powered by a winch ... which allows it to lift heavy loads by a simple turn of a gear. Up and up she goes ... and the best thing i like about this system is that it takes only seconds to reach maximum height. And here she is fully extended ... with my hand out of the way, you can see the winch and scissor-lift arms more clearly. From the wheelbase to the deck of the upper platform, it measures 5 and 1/4 inches ... and when i measure up to the bottom of the engine, total ground clearance equals 7 inches ... and in minifig scale, the engine is easily 3 stories up in the air ! This is a close-up view of how high the platform is, as it approaches the rear of the ship ... it may look tight in this pic, but there's more than enough room to get in there.
